White and Yellow Jonquil on Turquoise

The first daffodils this spring were yellow, but then came the multicolored jonquils, with white, yellow, orange or pink centers.  This one had been bent over by spring rains so I brought it inside to paint.   I like the descriptive lights on the flower.

Jonquil on Blue with Orange Stripe

This was an older painting that I decided to rework.  I liked the composition but changed the cooler blue color to a more saturated cyan color.

Yellow Centered Jonquil Charcoal Wall

Another jonquil painting from this spring.  I like to paint flowers with simple structure.  Also, jonquils hold their petals for several days as cut flowers.  I like the strong turquoise and charcoal colors.

Jonquil with Vertical Blue and Turquoise

This was painted this spring when the orange centered jonquils were blooming.  I have discovered I really like blue and white together.  The smidgeon of orange and green and gold  contrast with the dominant blues and make them seem even bluer.

Jonquil with Diagonal Orange Stripe

The same white jonquil slightly different composition.  I really like the blue background.  Again the painting is mostly blue for dominance.  The orange stripe in the background adds a nice bit of conflict and repeats the orange of the jonquil cup and the warm tones in the stem.
