Lighthouse at Night SOLD

Almost night at the Point Robinson Lighthouse on Maury Island.  The 1915 Fresnel lens inside the lightroom was working until 2008 when it was replaced by a less romantic plastic beacon mounted on the walkway atop the tower.  I moved the light back into the lightroom and also moved the modern radar tower just a little bit to the right until it left the painting altogether.  I like the moodiness of the scene.  This painting will be in the Vashon Island Art Studio Tour the first two weekends of December at the Pink House in Burton 23819 Vashon Hwy SW.  Make plans to come and see.

Night Light Dockton SOLD

Night is falling and the light on the marina is shining out across the water.  I sold this small painting last weekend at the Vashon Island Art Studio Tour, but the tour continues this weekend and there are lots more paintings.  Showing at stop # 23 in Dockton, opposite the former Dockton store.

Towards the Lake SOLD

From a friend's photograph.  I like the compositional form of having a dark and shadowed foreground leading to a lighter background.  It has an emotional feel to it - "things are dark here, but it looks brighter ahead." I worked on losing edges and adding softness.  I also wanted to suggest a twilight with late sun perhaps behind the far hill.  This painting will be on the Vashon Art Studio Tour THIS WEEKEND!  My paintings are at Stop # 23 in Dockton.

Twilight Madronas SOLD

A large painting - 48" x 48".  This one will be at Bergamot Home for an August-September show starting this Friday.  This is from my yard - looking across Quartermaster Harbor to Tahlequah, late in the day.  The sun is far north and very low on the horizon and all of the trees are in deep shadow except for a few leaves which get the last twinkle of light
