Four Cipollini

These were from the garden - when they were new we picked them as scallions, but now they're in an in-between stage on the way to becoming cipollini.  I like the red color.

Onions in a Jar

These little red cipollini onions can be picked before the bulb is large and used as scallions.  I kept them in a jar with just a little bit of water until I could get around to painting them.  Then I realized that the jar of onions was an interesting subject and so I painted that.

Silver Bowl and Cipollini

My daughter brought me these delightful little purple cipollini onions.  Not only colorful, these onions are quite hardy and have lasted for several weeks in my studio. A boon for a slow painter who makes plans to paint but doesn't always get things done.   I like the reflection in the silver bowl.
