Silver Pitcher and Lemon
More blue and lemons. Although blue is supposed to be a cool color, this painting seems summery to me. We only get these turquoise blues in the warmest part of the summer. On my ETSY store

Pewter Pitcher and Persimmons
The pitcher is probably pewter or possibly tarnished silver plate. I like the dark dull gleam of the surface with just a little bit of shine on the worn areas. This one is in Bainbridge Arts and Crafts, Winslow Washington in December.

Silver Pot and Oranges in Backlight, Shiny Reflections and metal Pitcher SOLD
Another shiny silver pot. I used a shield to create an interesting shadow with a small spotlight of light that creates sparkle on the pot and tabletop. I like the glowing background. This painting
will be in the Vashon Art Studio Tour the first two weekends in May. Link to map of Vashon Spring Art Tour I will be showing my paintings at Stop # 23 in Dockton. See you there! In the meantime, this painting is at my ETSY store

Silver Pot and Oranges in Side Light SOLD
This shiny silver pot is such a good subject for reflections. I used a
shield to throw a shadow across the left side of the still life. The
shadows add more drama and make the highlights more exciting. I
especially like the red reflection on the rim of the lid. This painting

Silver Pot and Clementines on Pink
I use paper and fabric as backdrops in my still life compositions. Sometimes I use very neutral grays and sometimes I go wild with color. The oranges and pinks are close to each other on the color wheel and create harmony, but are different temperatures (warm and cool) and create drama. On my ETSY store

Three Persimmons Silver Pot
I like the leaves of the persimmons. They are flat and leathery and dull in color and it's easy to put in too much detail to try to make them look like leaves. So I struggle to simplify the shapes, leave it unfussy, and still convey the idea. That's what makes painting fun!

Three Persimmons Gold Wall
A persimmon painting with a dark background. I like the shiny silver pot - fun to paint and a nice contrast to the matte surface of the persimmons. 8" x 10" oil on panel
This one will be in Bergamot Home on Vashon for the December show. Located at 23927 Vashon Hwy SW, Vashon, WA 98070

Persimmons on a Windowsill
Painted in my studio from this year's crop of Fuyu persimmons. I like the minimal colors and the reflections in the silver pot (a thrift store find given to me by my daughter) 6" x 12" oil on panel.
